Sizing & Placement

For a bedside table lamp, position the bottom of the shade at shoulder height when sitting upright in bed — typically 50–65 cm from the mattress surface. For a living room side table, a taller lamp (60–75 cm total height) generally reads better from a standing height. For desk use, a directional task lamp at 40–55 cm eye clearance reduces glare and shadow.
